SEFAR MEDITEX® - Customized Fabric, Mesh and Membrane for Medical Applications
The SEFAR MEDITEX® product lines offer customized fabric, mesh & membrane solutions for healthcare applications with specific requirements & tailored functional & biocompatible properties.

The SEFAR MEDITEX® product line offers solutions for healthcare applications with specific requirements.
Characteristics of these media include properties such as microfiltration (PORE), structures such as knitted fabrics (KNT), hydrophilic surfaces (HPL), a specific color (COL), or multiple layers (ACC).
SEFAR MEDITEX® Product Portfolio
SEFAR MEDITEX® PORE
Membranes continue to be widely used for microfiltration in the medical field, especially for venting (air), sterile filtration (liquid and air) and liquid microfiltration.
Production methods used by Sefar are unique, with Sefar’s patented technology characterized by a high membrane surface-volume ratio. Fibres that are just a few nanometers in diameter, create billions of homogeneous pores that enable unparalleled flow rates in venting and liquid filtration applications.
The membrane is also embedded into technical fabrics for protection and stabilization.
Main features and benefits
Hydrophobic, oleophobic, and hydrophilic surface treatments
Homogeneous thickness across the composite material for improved processing
Biocompatibility tested to USP Class VI and cytotoxicity (ISO 10993-5)
- Excellent mechanical resistance for robust handling and durable integration
Sefar is constantly testing new production methods and coatings to expand the SEFAR MEDITEX® PORE product portfolio and to meet the increasing market requirements and environmental legislation and regulations for microfiltration solutions.
SEFAR MEDITEX® KNT
The need in some medical applications for structural elasticity and softness triggered the development of biocompatible knitted fabrics in SEFAR MEDITEX® KNT product line.
Furthermore, these materials have a different touch from monofilament fabrics together with a new visual effect.Knitted materials are primarily made from multifilament yarns.
Knitting is a method by which yarn is manipulated to create a structural elastic fabric. Warp knitting is a family of knitting methods in which the yarn zigzags along the length of the fabric, rather than a single row. The right side of the fabric has fine lengthwise ribs while the reverse has crosswise ribs.
Main features and benefits
• structural elasticity and softness
• visual effects
• textile touch
• versatile combinations
SEFAR MEDITEX® HPL BIO
SEFAR MEDITEX® HPL BIO products offer a unique combination of hydrophilicity and biocompatibility, improving the performance of monofilament fabrics. The fabric undergoes a surface treatment to achieve hydrophilicity. The fabric undergoes a surface treatment to achieve hydrophilicity.
Plasma technology creates a strong, stable bond between the coating and the fabric. This increases the durability of the hydrophilic surface and ensures that it retains its moisture-wicking properties.
Hydrophilic coatings attract moisture, which helps process liquids quickly. This property makes the medical fabric ideal for use in applications that require fast and effective wicking.
Main features and benefits
• Fast, efficient wetting and wicking
• High throughput
• High spreading efficiency
• Homogeneous treatment
• Improved substrate adhesion
• Long term stability
• Biocompatibility in compliance with USP Class VI and ISO 10993
• Non-pyrogenic, non-hemolytic and non-cytotoxic
SEFAR MEDITEX® COL
The SEFAR MEDITEX® COL product line comprises medical fabrics that are colored to meet the requirements of specific applications.
Benefits of colored fabrics include corporate identity color, improved process automation, better identification of filter residues, differentiation of fabrics by color.
SEFAR MEDITEX® COL is used for common applications, such as blood filtration, infusion therapy, and bone marrow filtration. It is also used for diagnostic strips.
Main features and benefits
• Color Index (CI)
• process automation
• identification of filter residues
• differentiation by color
SEFAR MEDITEX® ACC
The unique multilayer products of the SEFAR MEDITEX® ACC product line are manufactured by bonding different media.
This bonding of complementary media permits different media properties to be combined in one material.
Typical applications include wound care management, cosmetics, and cardiotomy filters, among others.
